Transformer, Live Wires Fall On Vehicle Sparking Blaze In Bergenfield

Firefighters in Bergenfield worked to put out a fire caused by high tension wires and transformers from a utility pole that had fallen on a vehicle Wednesday evening, Aug. 14.

It happened on North Washington Avenue and West Church Street, where PSE&G was called to the scene to turn off the power.

The occupants of the vehicle were able to escape before flames consumed the car. Firefighters knocked down the blaze, with help from a Teaneck ladder and engine company from Dumont.
